Learning CommConnect -- Can't find "Messaging" tab when working with "Pregnancy Messaging" app acquired from Exchange

Hello all --

I am aiming to learn CommConnect.

-- My studies led me to the article in your help library telling how to go
through the tutorial/example application "Pregnancy Messaging," which is at:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Pregnancy+Messaging

-- Now, this article had me download the "Pregnancy Messaging" application
from the CommCare Exchange. That went fine.

-- Then the article tells me: "Once your domain is created and the
Pregnancy Messaging application copied, go to "Messaging: Reminders" to
view the default reminder setup..."

-- My problem is, when I am working in my copy of "Pregnancy Messaging,"
the top nav bar does not contain a "Messaging" tab. Please see the
screenshot that I have attached... the top tabs simply go Reports, Data,
Users, Surveys, Exchange. No Messaging.

Can you tell me why? If the answer is because I have not yet paid for the
pricing level that would allow me access to CommConnect, this puts me in a
tricky spot -- I won't be able to get budget for this level until I've
learned the tool and proved that is is usable, so can I get a temporary or
limited membership so I can test and learn?

Thanks much!

Eric

Hi Stephan,

You're right that Messaging is likely not showing because you are on the
Community plan. To use SMS functionality, you'll have to upgrade to the
Standard plan.

We understand that people need a chance to play around with our pay-only
features to evaluate which plan will fit their needs. To that end, when you
sign up for a new project space you will have access to a 30 day free
trial, which includes all pay-only features and some free SMSs.

If the 30 day trial didn't give you enough time, feel free to fill out our
pro bono application: : Pro-Bono Application - CommCare HQ

Thanks,
Amelia

OK, thanks. I realized how easy it was to make this work. I had indeed
created a new project... BUT I had created it by going to Exchange and
importing a sample course by doing "Download as new project." But, oddly,
making a new project that way does not start the 30 day free trail going.

So I went back and did the download the other way -- I did "download to
existing project," and imported it into a project that I created manually
and which therefore DID start a 30 day trial. That may be a useful
distinction to point out to people.

Thanks -- Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for pointing this out! We definitely want to include the 30 day
trial for projects downloaded from the Exchange. Our dev team is going to
update that accordingly.

Thanks,
Amelia
