Help

HI,

I have a question. I have a registration form and we can scan a card (Barcode) during registration process of beneficiary . Now I want to know that is it possible not to scan Card (Barcode) during registration of beneficiary but we could update Registration form Later by scanning the same card (Barcode) ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Afroz

Hello, Afroz,

A barcode scanner question simply captures the code which is stored in a
barcode so that it can be used in CommCare. You can treat it as a normal
case property and update/modify it on other forms. Additionally, if the
barcode was not present you could have someone manually enter a code into a
numeric ID or text question and save that to the case in place of the code
stored in the barcode.

If the barcode is not available at the time of registration it would not be
possible to modify the form which was already submitted; however you could
have a Registration Edit form that you use to update the barcode field when
it is available. Just save it as a case property in the registration form,
and then load it into the appropriate question in the Registration Edit
form. Be sure to save the new value from the Edit form to the case in order
to update the case property.

Afroz,

Are you trying to use the barcode as a way to search for a beneficiary to
update their registration?
