Forms not Syncing with server

Hi Everyone,

My students are using the Samsung Tab 3 7" tablet to run a commcare
application. One of my students application forms does not sync with the
server and the forms have just been collecting on the tablet. Two more of
my students reported the same problem this morning. They all have data and
their mobile data is on. I've tried to force log submission, but with no
success. What could be the cause of this? and how do I remedy it? The
short term solution for now would be wifi direct, but how do I omit this in
the long term?

Kind regards,
Ameera

Hello Ameera,

Sorry to hear about this - this is a bug that's been popping up
sporadically and we're working on a comprehensive fix for.

In the short term, please refer to the instructions found
herehttps://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/CommCare+ODK+will+not+Send+Forms+to+Server.
As you suggest, Wi-Fi Direct and SD Card Transfer are two ways around this.
Please be sure to also report the issue as directed on that page so that we
can look at your particular circumstances.

Best,
Will

Ameera,

Please do follow up as Will suggested so we can look into the circumstances
on your devices.

I wanted to flag that both these issues and the issue you mentioned in your
other email to commcare-users both can stem from having SD cards which are
making bad writes. The fact that it's happening between users and that it's
happening in different places (in one place while reading the from
definition, and here while writing/reading the unsent form) could imply
that the tablets you are using may have counterfeit SD cards in them, or a
bad lot of SD cards, both of which are fairly common.

I'll offer some steps we can take to identify and workaround these issues
in the support ticket.

Thanks Clayton, however, the sync issues are occurring in tablets that do
not have SD cards. I will do a check of students who are using SD cards
just in case.
