Form that can only be completed by supervisors

Hi,

We’d like to add a form to our app to detail any concerns or issues that
have arisen regarding particular participants.

Ideally we would only like these forms to be visible to the supervisors of
our field staff, as we would not like the field staff to complete these
themselves.

Please could you advise on how we could try to set this up? Would it make
more sense for the supervisors to do this on tablets, or on CommCare HQ? Is
there any way we can do this without getting into case sharing?

thank you!
Julia

Heather,

I would recommend taking a look at these two pages:

https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Form+Display+Conditions?src=search
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Custom+Registration+Data

In particular, you could add some value mapping to each user that was
considered a supervisor, then check this value in the form filter when
deciding whether or not to display the form.

Best,
Will

Hey Julia, You could also consider using a different app for the supervisor
(generally called Supervisory Apps).
You can read about an example Supervisory App here:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Using+the+Standard+Supervisory+App

Thanks!

Hi Will,

Thanks, this is helpful.

If I set some users up as ‘supervisors’, will they automatically be able to
see all of the cases? How do I ensure that they can see all cases across
all of the field staff, but that the field staff can each only see their
own cases?

thank you!

Julia,

One possibility would be to have a case sharing group for each member of
the field team and add the supervisors to each group - this should achieve
the desired effect.

Will

Hi Julia,

Here’s some documentation that describes what Will mentioned:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Assigning+cases+to+one+of+multiple+groups

This will work well as long as the FLWs are the only workers creating
cases.

Hope this helps!
Amelia

PS - If the supervisors also create cases, there is a workaround described
in the link I sent you that involves custom XML. We recommend doing this
only for people with technical experience who are comfortable editing XML.

Thank you Amelia - that actually looks like it should work for us. We’re
going to give it a try.
