Duplicate Cases

Is there a way to prevent the creation of duplicate cases? I have a form
that allows users to create a case, but I’d like to have logic to prevent
them from creating a new case with the same name as an existing case. Is
this possible?

Hello,

You could try using the Minimize Duplicates feature:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Minimize+Duplicates

Using this feature you could set up a workflow where the worker is prompted
to search the case list first before they choose to register a new case.
However it does not prevent a user from registering someone with the same
name.

If you are comfortable hand-editing the form xml there is another approach
described here:

?
