Device tracking/physical asset database

Hi folk,

I'm wondering if anyone has any particular strategies they use for tracking
large fleets of devices in a CommCare deployment with a few score to a few
hundred users. I'm currently conceptualizing something like a google sheet
with strict editing privileges, where I can track IMEI numbers, phone
numbers, model types, voice and data credit packages, what apps are
installed, and the like. I've also heard about creating custom fields in
CommCare HQ, but am a little hesitant to do that and only that, because our
set of CommCare users is smaller than our set of phone users, perhaps
rendering that a less-than-efficient response at full organizational scale.

What has worked for other organizational users?

Regards,

Hi Samuel,

Not an answer to your question, but wanted to mention that we have added
(as of CommCare 2.32 I believe) automatic IMEI tracking on login. This
information is currently only available in the bulk user export, but might
help you get the information from CommCare to whatever tool you land on.

cheers,
Cory
