CommConnect send MMS

Hello all --

A project was interested in knowing if CommConnect had the ability of
sending an MMS ... i.e. an image ... in its sending.

Is that possible with CommConnect?

Frankly, I do not have a good impression of MMS as being a graceful
method... and not sure how it would work with SMS gateways... but I wanted
to at least ask to find out if it was indeed possible.

Actually, let me add one more question to this, to make this two related
questions.

We might want to have CommConnect send SMS's in Lao PDR.

However, our first discussions have told us that most "simple" phones in
Lao do not have the Lao font on them, only smartphones. There is a chance
that our client organization will not allow sending in Thai or Latin
alphabets. (This is what led to my thinking about MMS above.) If you
have any other thoughts about working with Lao font in plain SMSs ... has
anyone succeeded? let me know...

Hey Eric,

We currently don't support sending MMS message (i.e. with an image) through
CommConnect because not all SMS gateways support MMS. I don't believe
Telerivet (the Android gateway that we use) supports MMS at the moment.

I think the alternate approach may be to send "romanized" Lao text, where
the Lao words are phonetically spelled out using roman numerals. If your
clients are already using SMS on simple phones then those phones must
either already support Lao, or they're using some other language to
communicate (Thai or romanized Lao).
