CommCare HQ Update

Dear CommCare Users,

We've been busy at work for the last few weeks and have made added some new
features to CommCare HQ that we hope you'll benefit from.

First, as many of you have noticed, we now have a Bug Report button
conveniently located at the top left of every page. When you encounter a
problem, click on that button and fill out the form to let us know about the
issue. We will be notified immediately and will get back to you with a fix
or possible solutions. Reporting a bug using this method is actually even
better than emailing us, because it sends us additional information that can
help us solve the problem quicker.

The *Case List Report *is now sorted by type. For most of you, this will
not affect anything, but for those of you that have workflows involving two
different types of cases, you'll have separate lists of cases, one for each
case type.

As described in a previous email, we now have support for unicode in the
Case Export
. It now defaults to exporting in Excel xlsx format, which deals
with unicode better than CSV.

We have added the *Case Activity Report *to the list of reports that you can
have automatically emailed to you. To set this up, click on Users, and
then Scheduled Reports.

We have changed the interface around deleting forms, modules, and
applications so that it's harder to delete things by mistake and if you do,
you have an opportunity to undo. We hope this saves you annoyance
and catastrophes in the future.

This is a feature that has been around for a while, but I wanted to draw
attention to it as we recently got it working better. If you want to change
what your CHWs see after sending forms, you can edit the Custom Success
Message
. You can have different messages for different languages, and the
message will change depending on which language their installation of
CommCare is set to.

Wishing you and your projects the best!
Danny

I sent the previous email too soon! There is one more feature we think
you'll find very useful if you've been using a custom export:

You now have the ability to exclude duplicates and forms with errors from
custom exports
. When you go in to edit a custom export you'll see a new
checkbox that says "Include duplicates and other unprocessed forms?". If you
uncheck it you will no longer see duplicates.

Best,
Danny

Hello Daniel,

just a simple query regarding option of "sending unsent forms" in
the Commcare application. can the user have the option of first looking at
the unsent forms and the choose which unsent form to sent. because as of
now in my CommCare application when i click on "send unsent forms" all the
forms get sent without i having any control on which unsent form to send or
to not send.

also is there any option to edit the unsent forms before sending them.

Rahul,

CommCare is not currently designed to allow this functionality. What is the
desired use case for selectively sending individual forms and not others? Is
it due to wanting to conserve bandwidth, or the desire to never send certain
forms?

CommCare does support storing sent forms on the device for review after
they've been completed, but it is unrelated to the sending/synchronization
functions.

Hello Clayton

thanks for the quick reply. my question regarding option of selectively
sending the forms is that suppose in certain cases the user is required to
send a data entry form and some how she does not fill all the data elements
and later wishes to enter the data and send form but when this functionality
is not there the user is neither able to edit or add data into the form and
so some times will sent forms which are not totally filled.

Rahul,

Ah, that makes more sense. You're talking about implementing a behavior to
save a form as incomplete and return to it later. We currently support this
behavior in the Android version of CommCare (commcare odk), but not for the
j2me version of CommCare. We do plan on supporting this feature in the
future, however.
