Case sharing

Hi I keep getting the same error about the user being in exactly one user
group. Ive been back through it for ages and checked all the different
settings. Any other thoughts on where I could be going wrong? thanks Nicola

Hi Nicola,

Are you using "Locations" in your application? Locations also place the
user into groups which can result in such behavior.

Another common issue is that Groups in HQ can be either reporting groups by
default, used for filtering web reports, or they can be case sharing groups,
which need to be added manually. You may need to configure that the group
the user is a member of is a case sharing group.

Hi, I'm afraid Im still getting the same errors - the app wont update and I
also getting the exactly one case error message when I login as some of the
mobile workers that I have created. I have downloaded the organisational
structure altogether and I have also set the groups to just case sharing. I
previously had them also as reporting groups.

For your question on locations, since I have now deleted the organisational
structure, does this mean Im not using locations? If not, where do I find
them?

thanks very much for your help,
Nicola

Hey Nikola,

In general to troubleshoot:

If you don't want case sharing:

  • Turn off case sharing in your application settings
  • Make a new version of your application
  • Update your application on your phone

If you do want case sharing

  • Make sure the user is assigned to only one case sharing group OR make
sure they are only assigned to one location that has "owns cases" turned on
  • If the user is not assigned to a case sharing group AND not assigned to a
location that has owns cases, you will get an error
  • After verifying the user's settings, please Sync on the phone or tablet

Let me know if this fixes the error - otherwise, Report an Issue from your
project and we can look at what is going on. Please include the mobile
worker and the application we should check.

Thanks,
Sheel

Great thanks. I had done all of the above except clicking sync. It is now
working. Thank you!

The only issue Im having now is that the app wont update. I get an error
message about "Failure to download updates. This usually means that your
app has a configuration issue. (see notification details)."

I don't really know where to start looking for the confiscation issues.
Ryan did tell me to unstar all the versions except the latest one. Ive now
down that but still no luck. Any thoughts on where I should be looking?

thanks Nicola

Nicola,

If you pull down the notification bar on your device you should see a more
detailed explanation of what's happening that might provide some guidance.
If not, I'd recommend reporting a bug
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Bug+Reports so that
we can take a look (and at least provide a better error message).

Cheers,
Will
