Case sharing and unique ID

Hello everybody,

I have an app the features multiple forms and most of them share some case
properties.
One form is called "member registration" and it's used to store each member
case within the database, here a unique member ID is created, called
member_id. When member's information are collected a specific property in
this form defines the member as respondent 1, respondent 2 or group leader
according to their "status" within the surveyed group.

I have a second form that I use to collect survey, these surveys are
administered only to those three particular members. I am trying to build
this form in a way that it includes the unique member id I create in the
"member registration" form but I can't find a way to share this property
between the two forms.

Any help?

Thank you!

Hi Alberto,

Does your second form (the survey) currently select one of the cases
created in the member registration form?

If so, you should be able to load properties by dragging them from the Case
Management Window
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Advanced+Case+Management+Tutorial+Part+3+-+Case+Management+Window
in
the survey form, and the property you added to the case in the first form
should be listed in that window.

Hi Clayton,

Sorry for the late reply. No, unfortunately it doesn't. It selects another
case which is the group form where information at a group level are stored.
Thanks.

Alberto,

If your project space is subscribed to a Standard plan or higher you can
configure a select question inside of the form which chooses from a set of
cases as outlined here:

https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Multiple+Choice+Questions+with+Cases+as+Choices

you'd probably want to change the Value Field to member_id instead of
@case_id as displayed there in order to load the particular value you are
looking for from the case.

Hi Clayton,

We are now under a Pro Bono Pro Plan. The feature you are mentioning should
work but unfortunately I wasn't able to use such feature. It simply doesn't
allow me to choose the @member_id field...

Alberto,

Pro plans should be compatible with that workflow.

What do you mean by "won't allow you to choose @member_id"?

Note that it's member_id in this context, and not @member_id. Does that
change address your issue?
