Case Export now defaults to Excel 2007 (xlsx)

Dear Users,

If you use the Case, Referrals, and Users export, it now defaults to
exporting in Excel 2007 format (i.e. an xlsx file). For those of you who
were relying on the CSV format, you can force csv format by adding
format=csv in the url:

https://www.commcarehq.org/a/{my-domain}/reports/download/cases/?format=csv

This choice was made because unicode characters for non-roman alphabets do
not render properly in excel when opened from a CSV file. Exporting in excel
format has fixed this issue.

Cheers,
Danny

Just fyi, would be helpful to have some warning (even a day or a few hours)
on changes like this. Thanks!

Hi Jon,

Duly noted. My apologies to Jon and anyone else who was relying on the API
to default to CSV. In the future I’ll take more care to make sure that
transitions go more smoothly and that everyone is given due notice about
API-breaking changes.

Best,
Danny
